What is the Coast Guard Recruiting Service Ribbon Decoration?
The Recruiting Service Ribbon is a military award of the United States Armed Forces which is issued by every branch of service with the exception of the United States Army (who issues the Recruiter Badge instead). The Recruiting Service Ribbon recognizes those military service members who have completed a successful tour as a military recruiter in one of the United States Military Recruiting Commands. The Coast Guard Recruiting Service Ribbon was created by the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard on November 2nd, 1995. The award is retroactive to January 1st, 1980 and is presented to any member of the Coast Guard who completes a standard of a two-year tour as a Coast Guard Recruiter. Like the Navy, the Coast Guard issues a Recruiter Badge as a temporary award worn while a service member is serving as a Coast Guard Recruiter.

How Do You Earn the Coast Guard Recruiting Service Ribbon?
The Coast Guard Recruiting Service Ribbon is awarded to Coast Guard personnel who has a Permanent Change of Station tour in recruiting duty for at least two consecutive years. Inactive-duty personnel who fulfill the Recruiter Personnel Qualification Standard and drill at a recruiting office for at least two years are also eligible for the ribbon.

Coast Guard Recruiting Service Ribbon and the Stolen Valor Act
The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 is a federal law that makes it illegal for any person to falsely claim to be the recipient of certain military awards, "with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit by convincing another that he or she received the award".This decoration is covered by the Stolen Valor act. Fraudulently claiming to have received a Coast Guard Recruiting Service Ribbon can result in punishment including a fine, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both
